All I can say is WOW!  I have officially been following Dr. Pratima’s Ayurverdic plan for 7 days and I have lost 5.5 lbs!!!  No kidding!  and I haven’t been hungry at all.  Actually, I have been surprised at how not hungry I have been.

First, let me describe the plan to you.  I went to Dr. Pratima’s office and she asked me several questions, looked me over, especially my fingernails and told me to do the following for 30 days.

  • Avoid: cheese, fried food, fermented- alcohol, vinegar, sauces (like soy), yeast, sweets, hotspices (but garlic is ok if cooked), peanuts, cashews and….animal products.
  • Take:
    • 2 Suprabhat at bedtime
    • 2 Bhumiamla 2 times a day after meals
    • 2 Sudol 3 times a day after meals
    • 2 Nidra 2 times a day in the morning and evening
    • 4 Hyperacidity pills 3 times a day
    • Alkalife 4 drops with each cup of water a day, and at least 24 drops a day
  • Wear: a thyroid belt for at least 3 hours a day
  • Exercise: She showed me this exercise to do…start with the premise that you are just walking, but harder.  Instead of your feet moving parallel to each other, they move one in front of the other and if your right foot is in front of your left foot then your upper body twists to the right, then alternate the whole move to the left with the next step…lets just say it is v. complicated and so far I have not been able to do more than 5 minutes b/c it wears you out.

So, that was the plan.  And, I can tell you, I was more than a little intimidated by the restrictions.  I love, fricken’ love, cheese!  and meat…but no eggs???  Seems impossible and sweets, totally addicted!

But, I did it!!!  Basically, I am eating like a vegan and it is not so hard.  There are tons of foods to eat and since most of what is left is fruits, vegetables and nuts, it is pretty healthy.  I feel like I can eat any time I am hungry, as long as I am eating the right foods.  Dr. Pratima did not place any limits on the caloric intake, but I think that is because it would be almost impossible to get too many calories under this regime.

Shockingly, though, I have had tons of energy and have been sleeping exceptionally well.  I feel thinner and not just 5.5 lbs thinner…like a lot thinner.  The supplements I have been taking are different plants for different purposes, like helping the liver and digestion.  Some are for better sleeping.  But they are all natural and I have had no feelings of being drugged.

I think having to take the pills after I eat has forced me to eat 3 meals a day, which is also v. healthy.

Ok, onto week 2…wish me luck!
